We headed up Pachatusen Mountain on horseback. The beginning of the trek was easy going. After a few hours, we stopped for lunch. |

Beverly and Art stopped to enjoy the views of the Sacred Valley on the way up. |

Hours later, the landscape became more barren and the groundcover shorter. We would occasionally pass by herds of grazing sheep. |

The rock faces jut out of the mountainside. It was wet and slippery. Our sturdy horses knew which paths were safest, so we gave them their lead. |

Our destination: the lake at the top of Pachatusen Mountain. Here we would camp overnight. |

The air was cool and it was hailing when we started to pitch camp. That evening, we were treated to a thunder, hail and lightening storm that swirled around us and shook the tents. In the morning, we awakened to a beautiful cool sunny day. |
