SKYDIVING!

Make your dreams come true. When I was growing up, my dad had an airplane. We'd go out to France Field and I would watch longingly as my dad's friends all got into an airplane, took off in to the air and jumped out of the airplane. There was a longing in my heart for many years.

Finally, the time was right for me to jump! Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005. I waited 44 years for this!

And when I was walking over to the hangar, I found a feather. Ah. The Ancients are smiling. They get a good chuckle at the things we mere mortals do for fun.

13,500 feet above Mother Earth and the clouds. My instructor, Paul, asks if I'm ready to go. You bet! What a gorgeous day!

We tumbled out and did a couple of revolutions (head over toes)

Falling at about 120 miles per hour.

It's a good thing I'd been practicing breathing & relaxing for 48 years.
All Chakras wide open!

I got an Eagle's eye-view of Orange County, Virginia and Laka Anna. We were freefalling for about a minute.

How do you tell a happy motorcycle rider? By the bugs in his teeth. No bugs up here. But the wind sure whooshes by fast. It might have been a little chilly, but somehow I didn't notice.

It's a bird - it's a plane - it's a flying Shaman!

Superman has his Kryptonite.
Manin has her Moldavite.
Rock on, Shamama!
Paul pulled the chute open and the harness yanked us up. Gave me a good goose too!

Ha! Is that a look of surprise?

We glided on the wind currents for a bit. Instructor Paul was really cool.
I said I was ready for some alternative views. So we did some wide circles and had a nice chat about the view and flying airplanes.

Coming in for a landing. Seven minutes goes by entirely too fast. I'm going to have to do this again.

Dennis, the camera man, is doing a great job, isn't he? Wait until you see the video!

Gee, all that padding on my rear end and I didn't even have to use it. It's kind of hard to tandem-walk and we got a good laugh.

Now this is the way to celebrate Labor Day! Aho.

Where did I have this marvelous adventure? At Skydive Orange in Orange, Virginia!

Lyrics from Drops of Jupiter

Now that she's back in the atmosphere
With drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey, hey
She acts like summer and walks like rain
Reminds me that there's time to change, hey, hey
Since the return from her stay on the moon
She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey, hey

Tell me did you sail across the sun
Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded
And that heaven is overrated

Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star
One without a permanent scar
And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there

Now that she's back from that soul vacation
Tracing her way through the constellation, hey, hey
She checks out Mozart while she does tae-bo
Reminds me that there's room to grow, hey, hey

Now that she's back in the atmosphere
I'm afraid that she might think of me as plain ol' Jane
Told a story about a man who is too afraid to fly so he never did land

Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back to the Milky Way
And tell me, did Venus blow your mind
Was it everything you wanted to find
And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there

Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken
Your best friend always sticking up for you even when I know you're wrong
Can you imagine no first dance, freeze dried romance five-hour phone conversation
The best soy latte that you ever had . . . and me

Tell me did the wind sweep you off your feet
Did you finally get the chance to dance along the light of day
And head back toward the Milky Way
